Supported Housing Briefing Events
Hosted by Supported Housing People Ltd and Delivered by Michael Patterson
Supported Housing People Ltd is delivering a series of eight half‑day briefing events across four English cities (and elsewhere if demand requires), bringing together professionals from across the supported housing system to examine he government’s response to the consultation on the Supported Housing Regulatory Oversight Act (SHROA), analysing both the significant steps forward that have been taken and the obstacles that remain in the journey towards a well‑managed, properly regulated and sustainably resourced supported housing ecosystem.
Purpose of the Briefings
The Supported Housing Regulatory Oversight Act represents an important milestone for the sector. The government’s response to the consultation signals clearer expectations, stronger oversight mechanisms and a renewed commitment to tackling the poor practice that continues to be a growing problem within the supported housing ecosystem in England.
However, while progress is evident since the Consultation of May 2025, major questions remain around implementation, capacity, funding, consistency, and the practical impact on providers, commissioners and residents.
These events will provide space for:
- A clear breakdown of the government’s response to the consultation
- Analysis of what has changed and what has not
- Discussion of unresolved risks and structural challenges
- Consideration of what is needed next to achieve change within the supported housing system that benefits residents, good providers and the councils they work with.
- An update on where we are with local supported housing strategies, Licensing, the National Supported Housing Standards (NSHS), Housing Benefit, “Care, Support or Supervision”, and much, much more.
